What is Private Hire?

Private Hire Vehicles cannot ply for hire in the street or at taxi ranks. Journeys must be pre-booked, normally by phone or in person at a cab office. Failure to do so is an offence and invalidates the vehicle's insurance cover.
 Please Be Aware: There are some unlicensed, uninspected and therefore unsafe vehicles plying for hire in some areas. Never get into an unlicensed vehicle, they will certainly be uninsured and may be dangerous.
All of our vehicles are Licensed and Inspected by the local council

Private Hire Vehicles licensed by the Council must display a plate on the rear and a smaller internal plate. 

All our Private Hire drivers undergo a criminal records check.

All our Private Hire drivers wear an official Council issued ID badge, which includes his/her photograph, for identification.

All our Private Hire vehicles are examined by the council test centre up to three times a year to ensure that they are roadworthy and safe.
